TATIANA GELFAND

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

(view theater CV)

Tatiana trained in the theater under the internationally celebrated Carlo Magaletti, serving as assistant director on his “Wunder[bar]” in Munich, Germany, and the Off-Broadway production of his “Let’s Speak Tango!” In San Francisco, Tatiana directed “No Exit” at the Mojo Theater, “The Eighth Circle” and “The Audition From Hell” at the Playwrights Center of San Francisco, as well as co-developing and directing the immersive installation, “Ants,” for the All World Fair in 2013. At the Red Productions theater lab in New York, she directed “Lovers and Other Liars,” “Threshold,” and “Exit Routes.”

As a filmmaker, Tatiana directed the James Brown-Orleans short film “Drawback,” assistant directed “The Barase Ice Men of New York,” as well as directing the webseries “Why The Hell Is She Asking Me That?”. She is currently working on a new documentary “Through Red Windows.”

In 2020, Gelfand co-wrote and directed “Scotch and Madness,” a cutting edge expressionist drama, which premiered to critical acclaim at the Alleyway Theatre in Buffalo, NY.

She created, developed, and co-authored  “Girls Who Walked on Glass”, an immersive theater production, based on real interviews with women, which relays to its audience the actual horrors three young women have endured – such as rape, HIV, and domestic violence.

In February 2022, when tensions increased between Russia & Ukraine, Gelfand was invited by a Russian-Ukrainian theater to co-produce, “My, The People”, a documentary multimedia play, to promote international dialogues on peace.
“My, the People” will be workshopped this year in  Berkeley, CA.
